Though I offer coaching for anyone who want to find clarity and fulfillment in their lives, regardless of race, gender or sexuality, I focus a lot of my efforts on helping people within the gay community. It is my community, and it is a strong group of individuals that have experienced the struggle of connecting with their true selves as they came out. During this time, certain beliefs were created about who they need to be in order to be accepted. Those beliefs--ones that I had myself--may now be keeping them from being the person they truly want to be that will give them a more satisfying life.
I personally came out at the age of 21. At the time, it all seemed very dramatic. But when it was all said and done, I was left thinking “Ok, I’m out. Now what?” I thought the hardest part was over, but life was just getting started.
We live in a predominately "straight" world. We’ve had to overcome feeling "different", proving to those around us that we are good, normal people. We've come a long way recently, so the fight for acceptance was worth it. However, the subconscious beliefs and patterns we developed are still holding us back. They drown out the voice that’s telling you what you really want, because that may not achieve the acceptance from others that we crave. So we live our lives, unsatisfied with ourselves, our jobs and our relationships, unable to find a solution, feeling stuck and frustrated.
Through coaching, my hope is to connect with that voice again by revealing those limiting beliefs we've so deeply engrained in ourselves and create new empowering beliefs. Most of us aren't quite sure who to look to for guidance in making life choices. Through our own personal growth and awareness, we can start to guide ourselves and become role-models for the next generation. The world has already started to accept us, so it’s time we start accepting ourselves. The bravest thing you’ll do in life is be who you are, unapologetically--because you are enough.
